While some people think there is no real difference between Jacuzzis and hot tubs, there are differences between the two. Jacuzzi’s brand name tub was invented by Roy Jacuzzi who came from a long line of inventors. The hydraulic jets that offer a relaxing massage were developed in the late 1960’s. By the early 1970’s, the innovative Jacuzzis were sold to the public and immediately became very popular. Hot tubs, on the other hand, have no jets, although they still offer therapeutic benefits to those who use them. Without the benefits of the forced air jets, they continue to massage sore, aching muscles.
Jacuzzis are also known as a spa tub or whirlpool tub and are found in private homes, at public swimming pools, in gyms, at medical facilities and often at luxury resorts and hotels world-wide. They have forced air jets that push out air to create currents, and bubbles that offer a restful massage for tense aching muscles. Used for hydrotherapy, relaxation, and even some religious purposes, there are several styles available. They offer seating that is placed around the inside of the tub in a circular fashion, either in a bench-like fashion or individually manufactured seats, and are made from fiberglass, plastic or wood. Jacuzzis may be installed in decking on outdoor patios or they may be installed inside the home. The water is heated by either natural gas or by wood.
Hot tubs are also popular and are more cost efficient than Jacuzzis. They are also easier to install.
